  3. Porlite FAQ

1)        What is Porlite?

Porlite is a new choice for eco-friendly functional fabrics. Porlite uses non-toxic materials, through an energy-saving manufacturing process, and becomes a high-efficiency functional fabric. Suitable for a waterproof jacket for sports or casual.

2)        Why is Porlite eco-friendly?

We believe if everything can eventually return to the earth without burden, the meaning of sustainability will be truly realized. Porlite uses the simplest carbon and hydrogen molecules will not produce any toxicity.

Porlite membrane uses low-temperature production and laminating, which saves 40% of energy compared with the previous 3-layer fabric. The feature of easy coloring reduces the time and temperature of dyeing, not only saving energy but saving 50% of water. It is the ultimate ideal pursued by the textile industry.

3)        Why is Porlite considered to be ‘high performance’?

Porlite is made of micropores film, which has as many as 10 billion micropores per square inch. Its moisture and breathability performance can be called the highest level. Its waterproof effect is good, and also can be washed by machine.

4)        What is Porlite’s membrane made of?

Porlite use olefin-base micropores membrane, which has the strongest moisture permeability and breathability. It is a class of polymers produced from a simple olefin with the general formula carbon and hydrogen as a monomer.

Compared to other polymers (PTFE/PU/TPEE), Porlite is significantly more eco-friendly after any type of treatment, as it does not produce any toxic gases or compounds. The microporous technology makes it totally suitable for aerobic exercise.

5)        Does Porlite have Bluesign certification?

Because Porlite is a newly launched product in 2020, the Bluesign certification is still being applied for.

It is expected that the application and issuance will be completed in 2-3 years.

6)        How does Porlite overcome the problem of washed appearance?

Porlite uses a self-developed membrane after many tests and adjustments, and the microporous is neatly arranged. The laminating machine that is attached to the fabric has also been selected, using a machine containing 20 rollers of different densities, and also using special glue. It overcomes the problem of washing appearance under multiple condition adjustments.

7)        Can Porlite choose a thicker cloth to fit?

Yes, but the moisture permeability and ventilation performance will definitely decrease.
